Tropical Storm Chantal looks very weak right now and has a virus. Dr McCoy you might not have long to wait. Captain Kirk can I get permission to go transport to Tropical Storm Chantal soon? Bones be patient.

Bones shouldn't be patient, you should be patient. Stop trying to declare this storm dead. The NHC will do that.

I'm watching the rgb loop and I can see what's going on. Convection really collapsed all over so that's why they weren't finding much high wind. but in last few frames the convection is blowing up really rapidly right over the center. think they will start finding higher winds again soon. How long are they staying in there?

I don't think they are going to find a well identified closed circulation at the surface, it may not be even be closed, but circulation well above the surface still looks vigorous.

convection is refiring... however, the center seems very poorly defined, or has opened into a wave axis

if what I'm seeing from recon is right this is a strong wave and no longer a tropical storm, lets see if they can find a closed circulation

if indeed this has opened up would that mean a more western track over Cuba instead
