Not bashing a met but Morales' Twitter feed is interesting reading. Pretty critical of NHC without actually coming out and saying it.

Looks like the center is exposed at about 67.2 and 15.8 ,some thunderstorms trying to pop on the north side

Goodnight all...it's been....interesting! IF I don't have severe weather in here in the morning I'll check in around 9 am or so. Yes I sleep a little later than I used to. ;)

The NHC discussions basically echo his comments. They're also saying "a big IF".

Seems to be right on target from previous runs, aside from the splitting into four pieces after leaving Hispaniola thing.

It was Feb or March of this year.

I found this -
U.S. Navy aircraft violates Venezuela's airspace
CARACAS (Reuters) - A U.S. Navy jet violated Venezuelan airspace around two small Caribbean islands over the weekend in what the South American country said was a provocation coordinated with neighboring Colombia...

"This was a conscious action by the U.S. Navy," Defense Minister Gustavo Rangel said at a news conference. "This is just the latest step in a series of provocations."

Rangel said such incidents probably had happened in the past, but now Venezuela has equipment to detect airspace violations in the area.

The U.S. warplane penetrated Venezuelan airspace around La Orchila and another island about 80 miles from the country's mainland, Rangel said.

maybe that is what is going on. http://www.myweather2.com/City-Town/Ven ... d/map.aspx

Asked this in the other thread and might as well ask here. What happens if Chantal is downgraded to a wave as far as steering and future track goes? Does it get caught up in the deep easterlies and move more west or is the potential north to west turn the same?

Gang,

For those who were wondering about the restricted airspace issue. Venezuela's Maiquetia Airspace/FIR (Flight Information Region) juts up north of 15N between 65W and 67W (roughly around the longitude of Puerto Rico).

edit: Oops...I see a bunch of posts about this already.
