Coastal Carolina certainly did not need more rain, but we are lucky it did not develop. With the ground as saturated as it is, would not take much wind to topple trees, and rivers are already over flood stage. We'll take this one, you guys can have the rest this year :)

2 PM EDT TWO:

CLOUDINESS AND SHOWERS EXTENDING FROM THE NORTHWESTERN BAHAMAS
NORTHWARD TO NORTH CAROLINA ARE ASSOCIATED WITH THE REMNANTS OF
CHANTAL. THIS DISTURBANCE IS EXPECTED TO MOVE NORTHWARD AND MERGE
WITH A FRONTAL BOUNDARY ALONG THE EASTERN UNITED STATES DURING THE
NEXT DAY. THIS SYSTEM HAS A LOW CHANCE...NEAR 10 PERCENT...OF
BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS.

Looks as if we may finally be able to write off the Remnants of Chantal/96L?

Just about. It's been a really rainy day here though, so the people wanting some wet weather from Chantal indirectly got their wish.
