Is there a webpage that will show the global hawk missions. That data should be fascinating. Ready for 26 hour shifts Dave? just kidding!

Here is a site where the flight path is seen but none of the instrument or dropsonde data.

Experimentally, after the mission is over I add the GlobalHawk dropsonde data here manually if I remember:
http://www.tropicalatlantic.com/recon/r ... asked=2013
Send me a reminder if I forget. There is no mapping yet though in my system. (and no sonde diagram yet, I was rewriting that and it is hardly started yet.)

If you really want the raw flight level data from the GlobalHawk, you can access this for NASA872 for example:
http://128.102.154.87/dashlite/dash.php ... npCallback

Look for the current mission number, usually the latest numbered "mb_XXXX", although it is not always at the end of the file.

Then plug that number into here ("mb_1849" for the latest mission for example):
/dashlite/dash.php?ID=mb_1849&ACTION=GET_FLIGHT_TRACK_BY_ID&callback=dojo.io.script.jsonp_dojoIoScript4._jsonpCallback

Purposefully left off the first part of the link so people who don't really want to see the data don't click it. It is a very large file. (1.2mb for that latest file) One day I might process something like that on a delayed basis, but too large of a file, and not of as much use, to constantly try downloading that file in real time and create it for Google Earth. (and too many data points too, which would be the major issue) I will eventually, next year, have the data appear in my Google Earth system. The sonde decoder was just rewritten completely and I'm not prepared to make that the default decoder yet in my operational system and the experimental developmental version of my decoder is not ready to process data in real time yet. Hopefully in mid 2014.

------------------

Off topic from that, I also manually add raw AXBT data for NOAA missions that have AXBT data here:
http://tropicalatlantic.com/noaa-aoc/im ... ?path=AXBT
(Then you can process it in my manual decoder.) And eventually I may have Air Force AXBT data on a much more delayed basis but that someone in the Navy has to send me and I may still have to create another decoder for that too.

2 PM TWO...

70%-70%

SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ASSOCIATED WITH AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE
LOCATED OVER THE SOUTHWESTERN BAY OF CAMPECHE HAVE BECOME BETTER
ORGANIZED OVER THE PAST SEVERAL HOURS. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
APPEAR CONDUCIVE FOR DEVELOPMENT WHILE THE SYSTEM MOVES WESTWARD
NEAR 10 MPH...AND A TROPICAL DEPRESSION COULD FORM BEFORE THE
SYSTEM REACHES THE COAST OF THE STATE OF VERACRUZ MEXICO TONIGHT OR
MONDAY. THIS SYSTEM HAS A HIGH CHANCE...70 PERCENT...OF BECOMING A
TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS...AND A HIGH CHANCE...70
PERCENT...OF BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 5 DAYS.
INTERESTS IN THE STATE OF VERACRUZ MEXICO SHOULD MONITOR THE
PROGRESS OF THIS DISTURBANCE. AN AIR FORCE RESERVE HURRICANE
HUNTER AIRCRAFT IS SCHEDULED TO INVESTIGATE THE SYSTEM LATER THIS
AFTERNOON.

I've seen them cancelled on runway before, I'm wondering if they decided it was too close to shore.

In doing this for 7 years I've probably seen everything including all the above. (including equipment failures) ;)

I hope they took off and it is just a comms problem they are working on enroute. I'm really curious what they would find on this flight. How strong are the winds? Is there a tight LLC, or a broad circulation only? Questions only recon can truthfully answer!

Did they make it into the air? Did they have to switch planes due to malfunctioning equipment? Is something blocking the runway? Was the flight canceled as they were taxiing out? Stay tuned to next season's episodes of Hurricane Hunters, where we delve into the mystery of the flight known as Teal 70!

I don't know Tim, looking at the radar there's not much turning space down there now although I've seen them leave hdobs off until they approach the system too. I'm watching all sources for updates or cancellations and it's all quiet.

Even with a comm problem they usually can send out a Recco message and nothing updated on it either.

Something else, read that 2 pm two, it says "later this afternoon"...that could mean a center fix at 5 to 6 pm which would hold take off to a later time. Because of the distance they'd only make 2 maybe 3 passes only as it is.
