NOAA3 is flying a box pattern as described on Twitter (https://twitter.com/HRD_AOML_NOAA):

"#NOAA43 aircraft: Flying a box pattern around some convection. Our radar will capture the growing structure of these systems."

HRD blog (http://noaahrd.wordpress.com/2013/09/07 ... s-morning/):

"NOAA43 will fly an inner-core pattern to gather Tail Doppler Radar data as outlined in our experiment plan."

Someone else can take it for awhile, I'm going to fix something to eat! I'd stay on NOAA 2 at this point. NOAA 3 is in clear air now and NOAA 9's working a dropsonde pattern. Haven't seen the AF flight out there yet but not sure where they'd fly if they were...skies are slightly crowded today but someone might watch for them anyway. I'll grab one more NOAA 2 hdobs then I'm out.

Posting something here that I posted on my Facebook page.

The AF Reserve Hurricane Hunters are scheduled to depart today at 12:30pm EDT (16:30Z) from Keesler AFB in Mississippi and are scheduled to be on station at 4:30pm EDT (20:30Z) for a scheduled center fix at 5pm EDT (21Z) in the remnants of Gabrielle. Another mission is scheduled for Monday afternoon with another mission departing late Monday night, all if necessary, with 12 hour subsequent fixes as long as the system remains a threat to Bermuda.

All of today's research missions into the remnants of Gabrielle (being tracked as 92L) will not take place. The NASA GlobalHawk aircraft had mechanical issues and its mission has been postponed a day. NOAA3, one of NOAA's P-3's, was to have flown in coordination with the GlobalHawk unmanned aerial vehicle and is therefore also postponed until tomorrow. Missions from NOAA's other P-3 and G-IV aircraft, which were to participate in a genesis research flight experiment, have been canceled and those aircraft will return back to MacDill AFB in Tampa this afternoon.

Thanks Henk for taking over today. I got hit with a major vertigo attack early this morning and it took me down all day. First one since 2006! Anyway, I'll be ready to go for the 93L missions at least parts of them. Got medicine today in case they hit again in the future, I wouldn't wish that thing on anyone!
