Well the GFDL sees something once this system clears Hispaniola, wow is it blowing this thing up, 967MB: :eek:

Not sure what it is seeing.

There many storms that have weakened to a wave and then regenerated. Just think back to 2005.

Haven't checked the models for Danny in awhile, bit of a surprise. I'd give it 50/50 at this point, it's already pulled quite a few surprises. I wonder if the NHC forecasts will start reflecting the upward model trend if we get another cycle or two like this (provided it doesn't dissipate first.)

The GFDL-P recurves in the Bahamas but what is it seeing? The 12Z had nothing.

The GFDL has been blowing Danny up post PR for quite awhile now. It has been keeping the system NORTH of all islands consistently. I argue that the model is not seeing anything but its own noise.

GFDL is pretty bad, HWRF is a much better model, especially of late.

The GFS has Danny and seems to combine with 98L in the Yucatan strait at 156 so its still something to watch for the GOM

I believe you are mistaken. That's 98L you are seeing
