A record rainfall of 8.94 inches was set at Savannah GA yesterday.
This breaks the old record of 2.81 set in 1946.

Broke it by a little bit there.

Yeah... my relatives in Charleston and on St Johns might be in for way more than they bargained for if this trend continues. If there's any good news there, it looks like the core is weakening as it nears shore, but that will change little if anything in the way of surge and freshwater flooding. Just an all around terrible situation there.

From the latest recon fix it look like just a bit east of a pure north movement.

May have wobbled back west if I'm looking at the AF VDM correctly on the map.

Between the two lates VDM it's a bit of east of a north movement, but I can't see how it would turn enough NE to avoid a landfall this close to land.

We vacationed on Kiawah over the summer, I can't help but think a lot of the border islands are going to be inundated with storm surge.

buoy 41033, located just offshore of Pritchards Island, South
Carolina. A wind gust of 46 mph (74 km/h) was recently reported
at the airport on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Water levels remain high along much of the St. Johns River, with
3.3 feet of storm surge inundation reported at the Racy Point
tide gauge. About 4.0 ft of storm surge inundation was reported at
Ft. Pulaski, Georgia, near Savannah, and 3.2 ft of storm surge
inundation has been reported at the Port of Charleston, South
Carolina.
