Re: ATL: MATTHEW - Hurricane - Discussion
Very bad situation for the Carolinas, damage may end up being overall worse there than in Florida.
I am in no ways going to say that Florida dodged a bullet, considering how bad the surge damage looks to be in the St. Augustine/Jacksonville area, but I don't think it's a bad thing to say that it could've been MUCh worse in most of Florida than it ended up being. It looked for a while like a category 4 or even borderline cat 5 was going to plow along the coast and perhaps even come inland. However, it seems to be a worse situation developing for the Carolinas, and the worst damage is occurring in areas that normally do not see hurricanes.
I fear we're still going to see a lot of damage reports coming in over the next couple of days, and the scale of damage will still be huge. This will still be a multi-billion dollar storm for the U.S.
Not to mention what happened in Haiti, where the death toll will likely only continue to increase exponentially.

I think the turn - if it is one - comes too late to avoid a landfall.

Both planes found the center more right than expected in the last two runs.

Re: ATL: MATTHEW - Hurricane - Discussion
Small chance for a F1 or F2 tornado along the coast around the SC/NC Border.
EHI values are currently 1 to 2.
If Matthew continues more north, chances of tornadoes would increase.

It acctually looks like it going to avoid a landfall to me. Would be a bit mazing if it could track this close to land from south Florida and up and still avoid a landfall.
