I'm thinking its more mid level dry air than shear. The sat loops show west to east movement north of 99L not out of the north.

I disagree.. It's sitting in about 25-30 kts. of shear on the north side...

Lots of shear now but look what awaits off to the WNW once it begins to clear Hispaniola:

LLC is, in my unprofessional opinion, clearly evident.

Agree. Fairly obvious where it is located now. The shear it is battling helped to clear up that question. :D Fairly vigorous low level vort there.

With that zoomed in view, clear WNW movement and yes, LLC looks pretty evident on north side of convection

Agree, good for us to identify, but not good it's popping out from under the convection due to likely shear...

Noticed that too on the shear map. 99L looks to be on the eastern side.

I think this is expected and so far very similar to what the euro has been showing. It will struggle for a day or so, maybe making it to TD or TS status, then conditions rapidly improve.

IF this does pan out and it gets upgraded this afternoon or evening, the local news will go into hypermode, especially as we get closer to that 3 day window, where the accuracy is pretty solid too..

If it can fight off that little sliver of shear today it appears that it has smoother sailing starting tomorrow.

I don't see much in the way of shear as it moves north of Puerto Rico, according to those charts. What are you seeing?
