Florida hasn't been spared anything yet.
Agreed. Absolutely pointless to be looking at short-term jogs east-to-west as hurricanes of Matthew's intensity don't follow a straight line and often bounce around.
At times like this, words mean a lot and we need to be very careful how we use them.

It's more than a wobble, Matthew may get around 74W before it starts heading N/NW again which is pretty significant when you're talking about 50-75 miles away from landfall by Florida.
But at the same time if the ridging ends up being stronger than it could counteract that. Personal thoughts are that it ends up 60-70 miles east of Florida and hits NC maybe SC too.

Right now the biggest concern should be for those in Haiti. They're getting slammed with a storm that just completed an EWRC so a much larger swath of powerful winds and intensifying as it makes landfall which is even worse. I don't know how populated the area around the landfall location is but the wind damage will be awful.
Also maybe it's just me but on satellite Matthew has developed a large cdo, is perfectly symmetrical with a large eye and no banding. Classic buzz saw look.

It was a wobble. If you look at the loop now, you can see it is back on course.

Matt is heading straight for Pic Macaya, one of the highest mountains in Haiti (nearly 7000 ft). Perhaps
some effects on the storm structure.

I also feel for anyone impacted by Matthew. When you look at what so many of them live in, the out come looks very grave.

If Matthew were to head poleward the core would largely miss the Cuban peninsula - just as predicted by the EURO model

With Haiti the wind factor is not the main issue; it has always been the flooding. Yes the winds will be devastating for a small portion of the country but if there's a killer it's going to be that 15-30+ inches of rain.

The latest GPM pass is honestly quite horrifying. This is about as bad as it gets.

I guess if there is any silver lining, the center isn't tracking directly over the capital of Port-au-Prince. Regardless, life threatening flash floods will be possible throughout the nation and into the Dominican Republic.

I don't think they will be able to do a center fix before landfall. Looks like landfall is occurring right now.

This article was from 2 hours ago and it appears certain residents along the coast may have ignored evacuation requests. You're correct that mass casualties will result from potential landslides and torrential rainfall but there will also be deaths attributed to the impact of high winds I would imagine.

Dozens of homes were already flooded in the town of Les Anglais, Haiti, due to Matthew's storm surge, according to Reuters. In the nearby town of Tiburon, residents who refused to evacuate earlier this week fled once the sea began to rise.
"Hurricane Matthew could have devastating impacts in Haiti, as the country has not experienced a storm of this magnitude since 1954. The people of Haiti were already suffering from a drought as a result of El Niño and now they will likely endure the shock of torrential flooding as a result of this storm," said Jean-Michel Vigreux, CARE country director in Haiti. "With the amount of rain expected, thousands are vulnerable to extreme flooding and mudslides due to deforestation in Haiti. The earlier people can get to shelters, the better, which is what we are emphasizing now,"
