I don't see anything that would stop them from issuing warnings just because the track runs up the coast. They won't issue any warnings until tropical storm force winds are 36 hours out.

Just keep in mind, hurricane force winds now extend 60 miles from center and tropical storm force winds 180 miles. So if it's 30 miles offshore, expect hurricane force winds on the coast.

I would recommend to refer to your owner's manual.

I know you need 50 to 1 oil for some chain saws but generators usually come with oil in them unless they are the cheap Harbor freight budget model and those require mixing 2 cycle oil with the gas.

This old lady wants to put in her 2. Cents. If you are close to landfall area and able, make your home preps then bug out. I made a big mistake in 2005 and stayed in Mississippi for Katrina. It was projected to go to Louisiana. We had been through so many false alarms in New Orleans that my young adult daughter refused to leave and refused to let me take my grandson. I could not leave them here. I have never been more terrified during and miserable after. We were able to get out days later. I still have nightmares of Katrina. If you can go then go!

Bad advice.. Some generators are 2-stroke and need gas with oil mixed in, other generators are 4-stroke and need gas without oil but they need engine oil. There are also propane an diesel generators.
The only right thing to do is read the manual)

Regarding the hurricane watch from Golden Beach northward, in Dade & Broward counties, how far inland is it covered by the watch?

The terrain seems to be effecting the storm. Not exactly sure why the terrain would move the eye, but im sure the upsloping winds hitting the storm is causing chaos in the cyclone. Also evident with the eye clouding over

Probably just a temporary stall, but occasionally that can signal a EWRC or a track direction change.

The Hurricane Watch is for all of Broward

the Tropical Storm Watch is for all of Miami-Dade

All hurricane/TS watches/warnings issued by the NHC are coastal products. It's up to each individual NWS office to issue inland watches/warnings for their forecast area.

What is the most frequently updated (closest to realtime) imagery available (or that you know of) for watching this move over Cuba?

Very wise advice. Major hurricanes are a nightmare. If you can leave, secure your home the best you can, and stay somewhere safe with friends or relatives. Being without power for days is no fun!!

Sounds reasonable, pressures could even rise to ~960mb. Outlook is still the same for Florida and the Bahamas, IMO.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

Bones' foot has seriously outperformed the models in both intensity and path. This quote is from 8 days ago.

Indeed! I remember the post well. I think someone ridiculed it and said something like we need to get serious (or something along those lines).

Kindaof looks like it is wobbling west, no doubt the high terrain is causing some erratic movements
