Re: ATL: MATTHEW - Hurricane - Discussion
Looks like the core is beginning to merge over water again. Are we having a reconnaissance mission anytime soon?

Second this. My wife is an electrician. She says it is illegal in our state (Michigan) to pull your meter. Only the utility can remove/replace them. They put locking tabs on them here.
It is. But I can also tell you from dealing with FPL EVERY day, the lineman will go right past you if they see a generator running and no transfer switch. Pick your poison, so far every time I have pulled the meter the lineman have been appreciative, and I am not in jail..

"And" time table for TS Warnings for Dade county. Thx
I'll answer this! I honestly believe it is an inappropriate question for a pro met. There's just too many nuances to explain when and what the percentages are. What answer would you be happy with? Yes, it's possible. But you already know that! When? Look at the projected storm timing and the current watches and warnings and extrapolate. But there's a reason they don't do almost watches or likeliness to have a watch. Uncertainty is too high. I apologize in advance for the extra emotion. Oh, and any pro met that wants to give me a special weather outlook for zip 32835, feel free.

Check out this Central US water vapor loop........And we can clearly see why some models have shifted east. It's already Fall here in NOLA. Can Fall sweep through Florida before the Hurricane arrives.....? That is the Million dollar question. As for now casting Matts current movement; Did the west turn already occur? (or is it just a wobble?) http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/comp/ceus/flash-wv.html

It actually looks quite healthy right now.

This makes me ask - how should I be feeling right now that I am completely missing out? Sad or relieved?

Forget the watch obsession and just pay attention to your wind probs their trends over time. As someone else said..they have to draw the line somewhere. You're close. Watch/warning products need to be reserved for areas with the highest risk otherwise their value is diminished.

Levy's video talks of fall as stationary at the moment. I'll vouch for central Florida and say we don't usually get fall until late October.

It's chilly there? still 82 here in Fort Worth. Actually a pretty warm night when we have been in low 70's for night time temps over past 2 weeks.

Hard to say. Where are you in the "deep south?" Could still be coming your way, unless you're in Dade County.
It ain't over till it's over.

Paul, if that's you, I hope you are right!

Dade is not out of the woods if there is another southerly trend

OK. Maybe you should include that in your article.
