Seems as if Matt is determined to make it into the GOM one way or another.

if it does loop it would be sheared and weak. regardless not much fishing offshore next week unless this goes up and out.

Last Frame: Blacks in the AVN. Matt is off the coast and ready to go... Concerned about strengthening. Many of us on the coast are hoping that the storm does what NHC says it will, at a WORST CASE. So I look at 125mph near my coast. Well the NHC has sucked at strength this whole time, why should I believe now. It still looks well intact . Im expecting a 4. Just being an honest concerned lurker since 2001. I have been with you all since Frances and even before, with Issac, and its perfect center with the hexagons, OMG. Remember? This one, is scary. Just saying...

There's quite a bit of convection already beginning to expand towards the Western side of the storm also.

It is. But I can also tell you from dealing with FPL EVERY day, the lineman will go right past you if they see a generator running and no transfer switch. Pick your poison, so far every time I have pulled the meter the lineman have been appreciative, and I am not in jail..
OK. Maybe you should include that in your article.
I am a lineman, on the way to the east coast... Pull the can, nobody will say anything. And it may save an apprentices life or some lineman that's not on top of his game... You know working to turn your power on 17 hours a day and then some. Just my two cents! Cheers
There were prosbably a ton of responses to this. But I really want to understand what you mean. Can you explain to a slow guy, lol. please..

Just wait and see how everything plays out.....
Fun stuff. Gotta love hurricane season.
Hi, JarrodB - I'm in Cape Canaveral adjacent to Cocoa Beach and I am quite concerned about the locals' lackadaisical evac decisions, too. Many have a false sense of security after they begrudgingly evac'd for Frances, came home to no damage, then stayed for Jeanne and still were ok. Matthew is such a different beast and Brevard has never experienced even a Cat 3.
We were told today that once the mandatory evac starts tomorrow at 3 PM, we can refuse to leave, but will have to sign a form stating that we understand that no emergency service personnel will respond to our calls during the storm.
Hope you can convince your parents to leave the CB sandbar.

Slow movement is bad news for Haiti. Now that it over water, convention is firing all over the country.

Re: ATL: MATTHEW - Hurricane - Discussion
It almost looks to me on satellite imagery that Matthew seemingly is trying to move on a NW heading. He is also slowing just a bit.
I still think for at least the next 48 hours Matthew has ideal conditions to rampup. I still think there is a window for him to make another run at Cat 5, which I think could happen when the cyclone traverses close into the Central Bahamas.

You need to specify the time frame you are talking about there. No east shift in the GFS with regard to FL.
I meant GA and NFL mainly.

If you are wiring your generator into your house wiring ( Which you had better know what your doing if you do ) pull the meter so you do not backfeed electric in to the service lines.

Well... apparently, if he doesn't reach cat 5 in the Bahamas in the next 48 hrs, he'll get another chance next week.

Pressure up to 960, winds down, so Haiti + Cuba did do some damage. Certainly did not shred it though, still a lot of open water to re-strengthen.

COnvection building fast around the center as it moves away from land.. wont take long to make a come back. actually im intrigued at how fast the southern portion has developed convection so quickly.
