Not according to recon

It's showing signs of much stronger storms but RI is only verifiable after the fact. Not recon data coming out that I've seen.

Agree with the RI.

You can see all the 90°C cloudtops blowing up in the past few hours. I feel like Matthew is literally going to explode once the convection fully wraps around

HUGE blow-up on IR. I'm not an expert by any means but I would imagine this indicates that RI is a possibility very soon, once that eyewall can wrap back around the SW side.

A bit off topic but why is it the NOAA planes seem to always record lower winds than the AF ones?

I hope our members in the Bahamas are safe and secure! Any of them still have power to report conditions?

LSU’s football game against Florida on Saturday will not be moved from Gainesville at The Swamp.

The news came down from the Florida administration on Wednesday afternoon, with an additional update set for 12 p.m. CST on Thursday.

The release said the game would not be moved out of Gainesville, though the time of kickoff could be pushed back as they continue to track Hurricane Matthew. Kickoff will remain scheduled for 11 a.m. CST and will be televised on the SEC Network, unless the game is pushed.

My Gator wife confirmed this. This game will not be moved from Gainesville and the decision as to whether and when it will be played on Saturday will be made tomorrow.

Thats a "fist" if I've ever seen one. I'm very concerned about next 12 to 24 hours.

Not sure, but It's definitely the truth. ( We have an AF plane headed to the system at this moment as well)

I apologize if this is a dumb question but do TC's tend to weaken at all as they go through the bahamas?

That looks like it will be significant, seeing that massive blow up of conv.

Now out of the cone from being in the center for days. I'm giddy.

A little concerned about the fetch from the prolonged 25 mph winds we've had and potential fetch from Matthew eroding the beaches here.

But, no longer have to put up storm panels.

Even if LSU is not impacted there will be THOUSANDS of Floridians without power, homes, and a huge portion of the state in a full disaster response. Even CONSIDERING playing the game at this point is disgusting to me.

Not really. The islands are small and very low in elevation. Maybe the bigger islands might try to slow down intensification, but they won't weaken a hurricane.

Yeah definitelythe eyewall seems to be undergoing a transformation of very deep convection, and intensification may be imminent.

Mets and experts,

If Matthew strengthens significantly, how does that impact track? West?

My folks still have power in Georgetown, Exuma. Wasn't very windy there about 20 minutes ago. I imagine it has picked up now. Thanks for the good wishes!

Edit: still just cool, dark, and windy. not bad yet.
