NOAA3 is going to have a time punching through that SE quadrant to the center. I wouldn't mind a seat on that ride.

no kidding that could be problematic. these large, loose circulations could really push the water. tonight's convective evolution should be interesting. as the storm reaches our longitude the large firehose east of the center should move ashore. Assuming it holds together that is the best chance of sustained TS conditions for the bay area and nature coast. It's not hard to envision long feeder bands extending into the NE gulf well after landfall as this thing sucks blood like a hungry mosquito. those can really unload torrential rain over localized areas. We've got a long way to go with this.
Yea psyclone..that large band that's lowly migrating east will be in here between 6-8 pm. That's where the winds will really pick up I afraid.

If this is the only landfall for hurricanes in Florida, I'm good for this season.
Weird how the weather got nasty earlier with high winds, heavy rain and now it's super calm relative to yesterday and lunch time today.

Calm in Tampa florida. A drizzle here and there. Think its probably over based on Radar as most energy is moving north. In hindsight Colin had more of a punch.

Have you checked the radar lately, a pretty significant band is moving in from the west....already impacting Pinellas:

AF will be doing a NW to SE pass next. You can't have NOAA going SE to NW. They would be flying towards each other at the same altitude.

Calm before the storm. Looks like some of that band off shore will wrap into you.

This isn't a hurricane yet, look at storms like Gilbert and Allen, those were hurricanes this thing is clearly structurally a tropical storm.
But if there are people who will NOT take it seriously because it's not a - "real hurricane" - it can still be quite destructive at 70 mph (m/l).

Clearly you were not correct
He wasn't. But neither are those who equate "appearance" with a hurricane or the need to panic ignorant masses into action. Hurricanes are (should be) based on science, not fear mongering or appearance. I know you agree with me on that.
I don't disagree with you at all Steve. Saying a cat. 1 should look like a Cat. 5 though had me kind of giggling.. Ive known you for 15 years on here and you know that's not my style to fear monger. Im sure you meant a few others. I was calling for T.S. warnings for here based on recon and buoy data but always thought it was going Cedar Key or North.

Landfall time looks more like 11pm eastern to me from radar and satellite loops. Unless she's speeding up dramatically.
