Well we fared VERY well for Frances, Jeanne, and Wilma in terms of our house. By the way it's a solid Concrete Built House with a tiled roof in a uniform development. In fact most in this community are not evacuating that we know of. What's your take?

If they call for an evacuation.. evacuate. I love hurricanes, but not Cat 4s-5s.

Well they haven't yet, but I even know of people who are staying in there condominiums on Singer Island!

Off-white is the second warmest color shade on BD imagery. Considering the eye has been mostly hanging around the medium to light grey temps on IR (which are colder shades), off-white is a sign that the eye is trying to clear.

Don't get hung up on Category. A 3, 4 or 5 can still bring catastrophic storm surge to inland areas close to the shore. You need to evacuate if you haven't already done so.

When/if it makes landfall, how quickly could it drop in intensity?

And we all know warming eye means intensifying. I hope all who are able to get out have done so. For those who chose to stay, pray for them.

The strongest wind would likely stay offshore due to the angle of attack even it reach CAT5 status, not saying it's not destructive but probably won't be as bad as Andrew did

All it would take is a wobble and that would change..

Evacuating to my sister's place in Margate. I'm not chancing this storm. Figured this is the last chance I got - I'm taking it.

At this late date, you could have real problems getting out of Dodge, seen issues with several wrecks on I-95.

I-95 and the Turnpike both look fine on Google Maps. There's also the option of heading south to I-75 and then west.

There's your winds catching up. And this is prior to the Gulf Stream. Consider me on-board now for possible category 5 intensification...

Matthew is making progress in that direction, but it's not there yet.

that is not true.. the sat appearance when it was a cat 5 was quite ragged. looks are not everything. it could easily make cat 5..

I get what you're saying, the entire hurricane wasn't perfect. However, the CDO was very symmetrical with the eye in the center of it. As of now the CDO is weighted to the east and southeast. That's what I'm referring to overall.

Massive traffic backup on Interstate 10 right now. It is a parking lot basically with people headed westbound evaucuating the area.
