This is the first I've heard of a Betsy track. That's not good.

Wouldn't be surprised if it has the inner core set up by tonight/tomorrow morning.

The anti-cyclone overhead is helping Matthew right now. Plus, it seems the shear to its north is still helping with outflow. It's become better organized in the last two hours.

Of course, it could just be the work computer I'm on, acting up again.

Kind of wondering if once this turns north if it would turn into sort of a "Sandy's evil brother" situation

Looks like a center (or the center?) is already west of the islands.

It could be close, but I think it makes landfall farther south in NC/VA.

For it to "pull a Sandy" it'd need to become a hybrid and hook really hard into the coast instead of just running up it as a potent hurricane. There's many more storm analogs to look at that would be a natural hurricane than a hybrid or post tropical storm like how Sandy was. I get the evil brother part lol. But I start thinking about the long island express hurricane when I think about a powerful hurricane going into New York.

center progressing farther west already passed islands... 6 hours or so ahead of schedule.. still in the low level flow. once convection develops with the LLC it wont slow down all to much.
