Isn't it kinda funny how she went backwards in eye structure? She's always had a fairly large eye, now she has a pinhole for (IIRC) the first time..

ok, after being taken away from this for a few hours again.. not that I wanted to .. looks like the inner eye is finally gone. its moving NNW ish.. and slowly deepening.. the evironment is not really very condusive for a cat 4 or 5 much anymore. but not impossible.

doppler velocities are in the 120 kt range.

Is it just me or does the hurricane seen to be moving due North and the eye is wobbling inside? It's like a false illusion....

Rapid? Naw, perhaps it's becoming a little more structurally defined but I had not heard any recent pressure reading that would indicate RI.

yes the vertical wind profile .. tilt to the hurricane is not ideal. we wont see a clear and steady eye like it was... the classic hurricane...

Looks to me like the CoC is completing a quick cyclonic loop.

It's all about storm surge and not wind in Tampa.

Everyone is so damned focused on the wind. It's the freakin water. It doesn't matter anymore what cat level it comes in at. WHERE it comes in is the the issue.

At 150 it's both. Have you seen Andrew photos? A lot of older constriction here

I agree. The drinks are flowing for me this evening. I will edit my post. SUBSTANTIAL intensification is occurring right now as the core structure continues to improve.

Irma slowly but surely intensifying. Cat 4 status has been regained. That image truly shows the massive size of this monster. Awesome image. WOW!

God speed to Key West My prayers to all down there

That eye looks like it is going to be huge once it clears.

Speaking of the Keys, are there any Keys webcams still working? Every one that I had up is offline now. I suppose you probably wouldn't be able to see much from them anyway at this time of night.

It’s a YouTube stream and the operator is switching between indoor / outdoor cameras. Trying not to link to direct cam as not to crash the server..

Seeing some signs that vertical wind shear is affecting to the eyewall structure. There are weak reflectivities on the south (upshear) side of the eye.

Also, I am now just at three inches of rainfall collected to this juncture and this is just with the convergent training cells that have been coming on shore on this Nor'easter that we are having ahead of Irma We're well on our way to getting anywhere from about 8 to 12 inches of rainfall total when all said it's done some localized areas could get even more.
