They did not flagged the 119 knot SFMR wind so Irma is indeed a Cat 4.

Anyone have a site to find winds in the Homestead area? Wondering what I've got going on outside, but the NWS at Homestead Air Reserve Base stopped reporting at some point yesterday afternoon. Thanks!

the push of water right now against the lower keys has to be incredible right now...for a system that's been left leaning for its entire life, now it seems to be right leaning, lets see how the next few hours play out but naples appears to be in big trouble..its really low there west of 41, they flood on a big tstorm day

we just had a feed band for the last 90 minutes that dropped at least 5 inches of rain, how we still have power is a wonder of the world

Not only is shear going to hit Irma as it nears the 27th-28th latitude but it also will be wrapping some dry air into its circulation to give it that non-tropical look to it by the time it makes it to north FL. IMO.

Per the recon's fix it did take that more northerly heading, if it keeps it up it will make landfall just east of Key West.

Models also show Irma wrapping up some those low dewpoints into its circulation when it reaches north FL. Regardless it will still be a very powerful & big system that will carry a big flooding surge to the big bend area if the Euro's track is correct.

Thanks! That's the predicted winds, it seems, rather than actual. I can't find anywhere down here reporting actual winds or gusts. Oh well 8-)

Already 10 inches of rain just south of me in Fort Pierce (St. Lucie County) and also my pool is going to overflow if it rises another 3 inches. Still 20 hours out from the brunt of Irma............

This storm is so large, it won't matter.

And yes, I would like a 10-20 mile shift EAST so I'm in the Western NOT Eastern eyewall. It makes one hell of a difference to those of us near the coast.

I have been impressed with the UKMET all season. It did a really good job with Harvey when the Euro and GFS were out to lunch..

Off course to the east right now. We'll see if that's a wobble or not, but will matter for the Keys.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.
