Now THAT is definitely a Key I would not want to ride a storm out on. Go bug hunting or fishing, yes, but ride a Cat 4 out? No way!

Big Pine Keys about to take it on the chin. See that Piotrowski is doing yet another intercept...hopefully it isn't as bad as Harvey's

EDIT: Piotrowski is in Naples. Jim Edds, Mike Theiss, Reed Timmer are in the Keys.

Looks like a fast rotating Eyewall Hot Tower just rotated across the lower Keys.
Big Pine Key to Key West.

Anybody got a clue if Irma will go NNE before landfall ...? How strong would it be in central Florida if it rode up the spine west(or over) lake Okeechobee...

Big Pine Key area is looking bad for the Key Deer population. Gonna be a scary place this morning. :(

It won't weaken much until it passes north of Fort Myers/Sarasota areas. We're forecast to get gusts of 130-143 mph.

I know, between this storm and the Screworm outbreak, that might wipe most of them out. :(

Thankfully for the folks in the keys, it won't be pitch dark.
