John Morales & staff at WTVJ in Miami are incensed that Y100 and WIOD (radio stations) have regular programming on at the moment, despite their deal to simulcast coverage in situations like this. Well over 100,000 without power in Miami-Dade .

Quick question about lack of emergency broadcasting by radio stations in Miami. I would think there are FCC rules about that. Does anyone know if certain stations are REQUIRED to broadcast emergency info?

Or she's trying to close off the eyewall and re-intensify...

John Morales going above and beyond to answer view questions. I'm so impressed!

@JohnMoralesNBC6 still risk of storm surge in Palmetto Bay?

John Morales Retweeted Ben Ben

Yes. Watch out at high tide between 12 and 1 today.

John, around what time will this thing peak in Miami Dade County?

Couldn't the perceived northward "movement" be a case of the corkscrew type twists that eye's take as a hurricane moves?

PandaCitrus wrote:I've yet to see one report of a sustained hurricane force wind. Not even in key West close to western eyewall. Something may be inhibiting these winds from reaching surface. We aren't even inland or dealing with land friction or weakening which should reduce winds further to the north. The high inland wind warnings may not verify.

I want to break down this post so you (and anyone else who needs it explained) understand why I don't like this.

1. The strongest winds are in a narrow area of the right front eyewall and we may not get reports from those areas for a while.
2. Questioning warning criteria in the middle of an event, as an amateur, is not allowed.

There will be plenty of time to review this storm once it's over.

Thanks.
