Any one have any idea on the timing of a potential EWRC once it moves back off-shore?

Ugh I figured they would take too long to sample the NE quad. Should have done a NW/NE pass.

Maybe some mountain shielding? A poorly located personal weather station? Who knows. It *looks* to be updating live...
I believe this is updating live but it appears to be right on the NW coast of Dominica. Probably being shielded from the highest winds by the mountains and also the fact that the wind field of Maria isn't that large. If they're lucky, the heaviest damage will be confined to a small part of the island. Let's hope that is the case.

Does anyone know approximately how long the center will be onshore for before reemerging?

It will be emerging over water within the half hour. Dominica is not a large island.

Based on Recon, the eye is likely a bit over halfway over Dominica. Should hit Roseau soon.
Storm surge will likely increase greatly in Roseau after the eye passes and wind shifts to the west/southwest.

Multiple reports:
From the PM of Dominica "My roof is gone. I am at the complete mercy of the hurricane. House is flooding." ...Damn.

Winds have picked up to 44MPH on that Wunderground station. I'd expect that once the eye passes over the mountain tops the wind will significantly increase...assuming the station survives.

It is fairly isolated from the rest of the island but once the storm is over water again, it will get hit hard with winds from the SW and W.

FWIW, if this storm stays on its current track from the SE to the NW into Puerto Rico, it will be a monumental disaster. God help everyone, again, in its path.

GOES-16 has the eye clearly losing definition over the island.

Why didn't recon turn around faster than usual to get it? I'm really in disbelief.

The Prime Minister in Dominica is reporting that he has already lost his roof. I would assume that he lives in one of the better constructed homes on the island.
