yes.. but they are just on the edge of the inner eyewall and it jogged to the north..CrazyC83 wrote:Aric Dunn wrote:the capital just got lucky.. it shifted north they wont get the eastern eyewall. but really bad for the two cities to the north
The entire eyewall is capable of at least category 4 conditions.

Stay safe, Gusty!

Yes I also lost them. Its worrisome as they were the ones who reported the building next to theirs was knocked down and had blown into their building and breached their newsroom.
I hope the eye is done with its pass over this island. Thank you to everyone with so much knowledge who are keeping us all updated on the storm here on Storm2k.

TheStormExpert wrote:Man I really regret canceling this season back in July. Now I know never to judge a book by its cover, including hurricane seasons! Can't believe we are dealing with another Cat.5 hurricane in the Atlantic and the second that also is making landfall in just a 2 week period. Heck! The East Pacific hasn't even produced a single Cat.5 so far this season, this tells you that all the energy is focused in the Atlantic this year just like HurricaneTrack's Mark Sudduth said pre-season. I feel really bad for those in the Eastern Caribbean who have to deal with such a bad and devestaing season so far.![]()

Had them on but that went out as well. Don't know if it is on my end or if they got knocked off?

Re: ATL: MARIA - Hurricane - Discussion
in a weird way. The fact that the inner eyewall is over land and it may accelerate the ERC that started just prior to landfall...
should help weaken the inner eye and the outer eyewall is surrounding the island and relatively free of friction.

Re: ATL: MARIA - Hurricane - Discussion
This will be horrible for a lot of people on many islands, but Puerto Rico is going to be an epic disaster. There's about 3.5 million people on that island with nowhere to go, with a Cat 4/5 storm heading directly toward them. Irma was awful for them, but that was not a direct hit and on the weak side. I hope the US is already mobilized to help, they are going to need a lot of it, along with US VI and all the other islands affected.
