What time is DMAX? Is it relevant in this situation?

TX got really lucky with Bret, weakening from cat 4 and hitting rural country. Hopefully history will repeat itself.

Even if Bret hit as a cat 4 (or 5), it wouldn't have been very serious as it hit in no man's land. Although this has to really slow down and spend time over water to get to such intensities.

Well, unless you had a house and barn in Rio Hondo, which my family does/did. Not to worry, nobody lives there, but the old barn was destroyed. There's always *someone* who's gonna be in the path.

I'm getting tired of this storm. Hope we're not here discussing its future track a week from now. I'm not planning on doing any biking this weekend. This may well be a historical rainfall event for Texas, on the order of 1979's Claudette or 2001's Allison.

Guys and Gals, I know we are still a couple of days away from this event, but to our Texas and SWLa peeps, please make sure you and your families stay safe. don't take anything for granted. My youngest son just started his freshman year at ULL, so I'm keeping a very close eye out on the Lafayette wx.

Sorry if this has already been asked. 70+ pages!
How will Harvey's stationary time in the gulf affect his track once he does get going? Would more time stalled cause him to move more north as opposed to NW? More west? What factors will affect his steering?

Even though this is a ways out, I am seeing 5000 CAPE in the NW end of the GOM.
Goes to show you how juiced it is.
Doesn't get much higher than that.

Massive helicity with that tower and gravity waves apparent in its cirrus.
New one firing to its NW.

Hoo boy. Haven't been able to watch the Gulf due to some family medical issues and woke up this morning with Harvey heading our way, at least in some manner. Went to the grocery store at lunch and water was already thin on the shelves.

Am I seeing this right, that Harvey is looking at two landfalls? Going to be an ugly flooding event in Houston from the looks of things. Yikes.

No biking this weekend? It's payback for your many years of taunting Portastorm during the winter months! 8-)

Seriously, good luck to you Wxman57 and everyone else down on the coast. Y'all are in my thoughts and prayers.
