If this is one of those twin systems, it'll be the third time I have seen it and the MCS is nearly always on the NE side.

well according the last 2 microwave passes over the last 6 hours.. a ERC does appear to have started about 7 hours ago.. though its not happening nearly as fast.

It's #3, Irma is the ultimate ERC producer

This post was probably an opinion of mine, and in no way is official. Please refer to http://www.hurricanes.gov for official tropical analysis and advisories.

Is that 3 wind maxima. I am afraid I do not know how to read that display.

Hurricane Fernanda would have a problem with this statement.

Microwave imagery shows a big hook of dry air wrapping towards the core. Looks like a probable ailment to me.

Just an observation, not based on science, but just experience watching hurricanes. When a storm is being forced S of due W, sometimes that S motion component persists longer than forecast. We saw this with Katrina over FL and Ike over Cuba for example... both were delayed in resuming a W and WNW direction. Not saying this setup is the same, but I hope for the sake of those in the islands that Irma doesn't delay her turn back W and WNW.

Hey everyone! Haven't posted in quite a while but still lurk frequently. Wanted to let everyone in PR and the northern islands know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. The trend is definitely not comforting for these areas. You all are often overlooked by the media and others. Just wanted to know that I am thinking of you.

I would not be so sure. I have undergone a lot. Though admittedly most of mine are due to people getting my eyeglass prescriptions wrong. 8-)
