I believe the danger of this storm cannot be stressed enough. We are looking at a rapidly intensifying storm, in favorable atmospheric conditions, less than 48 hours away from landfall. If you are under a watch or warning, please heed it.

Extrapolated pressure down to 984 mb, but no hurricane-force winds yet. Only a matter of time. The TC is still deepening.

The old Ecmwf run (1) that blew this up approaching Texas is going to be right. A long range Ecmwf intensity got this right, short range not so much.

DTC, great microwave imagery there, inner core is looking great and is reminding me of many cat/4/5 systems before they blow up and really strengthen.

Personally, I would be home getting my house/self in order. Do the same and good luck!

Not too surprised there isn't any hurricane force winds, there usually is some lag with these types of system, but its certainly coming!

The fact the pressure is still dropping down doesn't bode well!

CAPE increasing now on the W and SW Quad. Up to 3500.
Pop ups firing off.
Looks like the cap came off earlier than I thought it would.
Firing on all 8 cylinders now.

winds are lagging the pressure quite a bit. Has a monsoon trough p/w. HMON and HWRF seem to have been right about that

Wow. I shudder to think what this thing can do if it manages to loop back into the Gulf. Nola officials have discussed evacauation orders for even just excessive rainfall...

Does anyone have a water temp map for what's ahead of Harvey?

Well Harvey has the classic look now. Look out for a expanding hurricane during the day.

You should be a safe distance from significant hurricane force impacts, but you won't escape flooding. Take necessary precautions to protect yourself from flood waters.

Local authorities will have the best answer for you. Rain flooding is going to be the biggest issue inland. Pay attention to what your local government and national weather service office is saying.
