I almost had an altercation with a jerk at HEB this morning grabbing the last bits of dry ice for my meds.

I haven't been able to post a whole lot (but I can fill in for Recon from time to time) due to being busy with school but I have been doing occasional graphics and forecast work.

You getting out of there or looking to ride it out?

I'm going to stay for now. I've advised my ex-wife and kids go to a friends in George West. I'll charge my video camera and see if I can upload quick youtube vids for you guys to watch.

Be safe man. This looks like one of those time defining moments for y'all down there. For 10 years after, it was Before and After Katrina whenever any timeframe was mentioned. It's going to be prolonged and deadly. I'm assuming you're in off the coast as well as Corpus Christi Bay and Nueces Bay and have close enough access to a shelter if need be. Peace homie.

Just got off a conference call (I'm a catastrophe insurance adjuster) and TWIA (Texas windstorm insurance association) was projecting over 35,000 claims last night prior to this RI so now that is well over double that. Looks like I will be heading down there early next week, well as close as I can get.

I don't know why this hasn't been posted recently, but I love using COD for GOES-16 data, it updates automatically so I just leave it open all day.

Enjoy! http://weather.cod.edu/satrad/exper/?pa ... f-02-200-0

If it starts to look bad I will leave. I live about 20 miles inland and about 5 miles from the bays. Thanks for your concern!

Just yesterday the 3km NAM was showing a pressure sub 920 for peak strength and it was quickly discredited. Now, it actually may end up being fairly close and the only model showing such a low pressure. Just goes to show how intensity forecasting needs to weigh ALL options. I’ve seen the 3km NAM do horrible at times and then great for others. This is one time it nailed it.

Should be a category 1 hurricane already given that the southwest quadrant where SFMR winds of 60kt were observed is not the strongest quadrant.

Is it me or does it appear that Harvey is continuing to move along the northern spectrum of the guidance cone?
