Re: ATL: IRMA - Hurricane - Discussion
Inner eye is beginning to fade pretty quick on visible with very shallow convection remaining more whispy than anything..

SouthDadeFish wrote:Looks like the larger eyewall is starting to become dominant on satellite imagery too. The moat between the eyewalls is weakning. The CDO looks to be expanding as well. The eye is still partially cloud-filled now, but once it clears out, satellite estimates will likely significantly increase.
And the Islands are already seeing the outer bands of Irma.

That's the G-IV synoptic surveillance flight which drops sondes around the hurricane to feed data into models.

Prof - You are more than welcome.
This is the first time we have evacuated by land in a while, and I was happy to find La Quinta. (We happened to be at sea for Matthew, Rita, and Jeanne.)
PS - La Quinta is also a pet friendly hotel chain! (We have a kitty to consider, too.)

Major lurker Here for years. Just remembered my login. Besides Donna scenario, what other past tracks come to mind? Frances? Ivan? Matthew? Our local mets posted NHC update and alot felt similarity to Frederic. I was real young then. Probably being in S Alabama that is the one they relate to. Love reading and learning.

Re: ATL: IRMA - Hurricane - Discussion
next recon pass may only be one eyewall now becasue of the rate of decay of the inner eye.. its fading fast now.

That would be concerning if it was his real twitter. Luckily it's not the real POTUS.
