I don't think the plane will be back until around the 8am, so in all likelihood they won't go higher than 110 before that--they usually hesitate just below the next category if the plane is on the way.

Didn't someone say the plane just took off? Shouldn't take 5 hours to get to the storm should it?

plane is already en route.just took off..

last thing..radar .. eyewall.. almost a full donut of bad.. likely 115 already..

ill be back later. ...

This is really kicking in on radar now. By the time recon arrives, I'm guessing 115 mph and down to 960mb

It has never taken that long... I would anticipate within a hour and some change...

I meant the 8am advisory--it'll likely arrive after the next full package so I don't think they'll go much higher before then.

What is the mood in Houston? Locals seem concerned?

Yep, folks have gone mad down here. No water, bread or milk to be found. Majority seem to be hunkering down

For anyone interested you can follow recon live with Cesium through tropicalatlantic. Use the link below, click on mission 16 for the current mission. Mission 17 is the AF305 Lockheed WC-130J Hercules currently en-route.

I went to HEB in Port Arthur, TX after work (not even in the cone) and the water shelves were empty, there wasn't a loaf of bread in the store and many other shelves were empty. I think Rita and Ike are still fresh on people's minds and people are preparing just in case.

Yes, Rita and Ike are for sure still on their minds. There were 2 types of people in the lines today. Those talking to the person in front of them about their Ike and Rita stories. And those that were angry that they couldn't get the items they needed.

There were lots of gas stations out of gas as well today. It was an overall mad house out there.

I expect tomorrow morning to be worse.

Just so there is no confusion, Mission 16 ended. No recon currently in storm. Radar seems like the best tool at the moment

Also, if running the live graphical map is giving your PC issues, the main recon page will update with info as well.

Mission 15 took about 2 hours from takeoff for the Lockheed WC-130J Hercules to arrive at Harvey's center.
