Looks like it is bombing! What ever that has been holding it back is now gone and the storm is taken advantage of the high TCHP of the western Gulf.

I know I sided against this earlier but if these trends keep up this could get close to cat4 within the next 12-24 hours.

On Brownsville radar it looks like the eye is clearing out and contracting.

Here in corpus christi Southside near the bay and getting some wind gusts to tropical storm force in a band already

The inner core continues to improve on radar, eye is becoming less ragged and more symmetrical in the last few frames, see if that trend continues:

That is because the radar beam cannot detect the Western eyewall to due earth curvature and height of the beam. The eyewall is intact and circular until the next first pass of USAF RECON proves otherwise.
