Good luck. I would drive further inland if I were you, the winds plus surge plus rain of a stalled system is going to make travel near impossible.
Will the after math be bad ?
why in God's name are you still there?
I had to close the airport I'm a supervisor there what should I do

With this storm, it's more the WATER than the wind.
It will basically SIT and rain over the same 50-100 miles for days and days. That will definitely cause flooding.

It is hard to comprehend what 20+ inches of rain is like. Not only this, but to have 20+ inches of rain over such a large area is truly incredible. I am very afraid of the potential for significant inland flooding. Remember, water is what tends to kill people in tropical cyclones. Many people think it is okay to drive through roads in which they cannot see the bottom of the water. Do not do this. Turn around - don't drown!
what;s scaring me si the potential for 150 mph gusts in downtown Corpus. That's probably the most immediate concern. No mandatory evacuation was ordered for Corpus
Why would they not issue a 'Mandatory Evacuation'?
Texas arrogance. A Nueces County representative just told Jim Cantore live on the WC that if they ordered a mandatory evacuation that it basically triggers too much regulation with the oil rigs/refinery's.
IMO they will regret that decision.

Corpus Christi Mayor Joe McComb says that the city is at the threshold of a mandatory evacuation. He is encouraging people to evacuate. Joe McComb said, "If you plan to evacuate, do it now."
Corpus Christi Fire Department's Chief Robert Rocha says beginning at 3 pm, residents in Zone A (Island), Zone B (Flour Bluff), North Beach and the low-lying areas along Oso Creek should evacuate. He said those residents can head to Cabaniss Field to load buses. Those buses will take residents to San Antonio.

I hope this doesn't lead to people getting trapped on the roads...

WHERE is Brian Norcross?
He's a calm, steadying voice, and many people trust what he tells them, after Andrew in Miami, I'm surprised they haven't got him on air here.
Is he on vacation or something?
Rick Knabb had a long
career with the NHC as a senior/lead forecaster and lately as the Director....retired last year....Rich
I don't dislike Rick Knabb...he's very knowledgeable, I agree...it's just....
But Didn't Brian N do a stint in TX after leaving Miami's local station before going to TWC? I just know a lot of people know of him from Andrew, and TRUST him. Whatever Brian says, they will do....
I would think they would want as many "voices" as they can get advising people at this time.

Tell your boss to F off, close poop down right this second and leave. This is a life threatening storm. Any business that expects it's employees to stick around in these type of conditions isn't a business worth working for. (Emergency responders excluded, obviously. )

It doesn't have very strong steering currents. That's why it's going to be devastating...it's going to continue to churn right at the coast, mainly, not able to move much.

When you pay the NHC Director to leave his job and move to TWC, he becomes the face of the hurricane coverage.
