A storm of this character this close to land is a rare sight... glad to have GOES-16 keeping high temporal resolution on this.

Euro had something similar a few runs ago...can you imagine this not going inland then tracking up the coast!!

That is very unlikely. None of the latest model guidance is showing this happening.

I agree with you, but with all due respect, the models also just had a tropical storm coming to TX just three days ago..

He packed it in and went for cover.

EDIT : Nevermind he's back out there with roofs being blown off houses.

Hurricanetrack camera, I believe this is in Port O'Conner but maybe someone familiar with the area can confirm.

I posted that same link awhile back. It says it periodically switches between CC and Port O'Conner.

Since it looks like he is starting to stall nothing is out of the question, right now it is a wait and see game.

Disclaimer: 50% of the time I have no clue of what I am talking about. Chances are I am taking a less than educated guess that sounds good because 10 years ago I stole Mike Watkins book 'The Hurricane and its Impact'. It's not very often that we see major canes making landfall at peak strength, especially in the US. Harvey really had that look of bombing out right before touchdown, one of the few cases where the EWRC causes RI in less than 6 hours. Getting a Haiyan vibes with this, but hopefully the flooding and ocean surge won't be as deadly.

Yeah, thank you. Just saw he was able to start broadcasting again. When he went out transformers were blowing everywhere and signs flying, some roof debris, etc.
