I saw that too, not sure if its an opening, or just rain occlusion of the other side of the eye. IR still looks pretty healthy

Thanks for posting, I needed a YouTube link of Jeff.
Yet again the most significant systems are the ones that creep up on you and aren't hyped for a week - of course also not moving due north at landfall which often means degrading strength.

I know people throw this term around a lot, and I'm probably wrong, but does this look like it is somewhat transforming to having annular characteristics?

What I'm seeing is that it's approaching the radar site almost head on. Radar won't be able to see through all that very well. But will the radar site still be there in a few hours?

Not sure this is serious but highly doubtful. SHIPS indicated 0% chance across the board.

Jeff's stream went down. Any other streams near where the eyewall is coming ashore?

I don't know much about annular hurricanes, but I'm pretty sure Harvey has too much banding to be annular.

I wasn't joking, but also was 99% certain of being wrong.
I just happened to be reading this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Annular_tropical_cyclone
Reading about the EWRC, thinking about what happened this morning, and looking at the picture on wikipedia before Goni became annular and thought "well, that doesn't seem that far off". Also, intensity forecasts were low.
