I've been seeing a lot of posts like that. A single word or two, some sort of exclamation, some with a link or image, others without. But none of them have explained what they're saying or seeing. There's been no explanation of the exclamation.
Because the images associated with those posts are self explanatory.
Can you explain it to those of who are not able to make it "self explanatory"? Pretty please?

They don't look any different to me than most others. 'Ridiculous' is not an explanation of the image, what it means or what the effects might be to those in affected areas. There are an awful lot of new posters on this thread that might like a bit more than exclamations to try and learn from.

The symmetry is fantastic. You really ever see such a closeness to a perfect circle. No kinks in the circle to interrupt the wind flow.

Still very nervous about this one.
Native Floridian, fellow PSL resident, and have been through many a storm in my lifetime. This one has me nervous as well. Safe to say that most of us have not encountered a beast like this in our lifetime.

I don't like Ryan Maue saying this is what the satellite WILL look like!
It's what one model predicts the satellite COULD look like.
But still... it's what a reliable model is predicting. Scary....

This storm might be the only analogue for the type of damage the Leeward Islands might see if they get a direct landfall:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Hurricane_of_1780
I don't mean to scaremonger or be hyperbolic. Certainly I don't expect that death toll, but if it holds that 180+mph intensity when it directly landfalls on one of these little islands (which seems quite likely), there IS no modern analogue for the kind of damage that could cause.

Re: ATL: IRMA - Hurricane - Discussion
I understand that this is going to be bad and I'm not doubting the validity of what Setzer is saying here but the fact of the matter is that the majority of the people in the path of this storm will not evacuate unless they are in a mandatory evacuation zone. Logistically speaking it is impossible to evacuate the entire population of South Florida. It can't be done. That is why they recommend most people if you live in a well built home to hunker down and shelter in place. If you're in a mandatory evacuation area or a mobile home then by all means you need to get out. The fact is, not everyone in South Florida can just hit the road. It will be mass pandemonium.

Yep, clear on radar. Pressure is down, but so are the winds. Typical ERC drop-off in intensity.

To be fair, he said a forecast of what the satellite will look like. The word "forecast" means a prediction or estimate.

Any forecast I make is based on my opinion only. Please refer to the NWS or NHC for official forecasts.

Just gassed up truck, went to Home Depot and got lucky as they had just dropped pallet of gas containers and generators
( gone in 20 minutes)
Picked up bucket construction screws, drill bits, xtra drill battery, d-batteries, 2 flats water
Plywood getting dropped tomorrow.
Plan is to board house tomorrow, leave area and head to Atlanta Thursday pm
Feasible?

supercane4867 wrote:Looking at the radar, I wonder if Irma is trying to pull a Haiyan style EWRC? The outer eyewall merges with inner eyewall rather than replacing it, which may allow further intensification tonight as cloudtops continue to cool after sunset
Haiyan's picture also came to my mind as soon as I saw Irma's radar signature. I dont know if that would qualify as an EWRC. More like Eyewall Merger Cycle. Storms that perform this kind of behavior tends to be off tge charts

I told one of my co-workers today she is giving a run for it but all I remember is Camille since I lived through it in Biloxi and hearing reports of 200MPH gust that night but this is crazy.
Camille has recently been downgraded to 175 MPH peak I believe.
Yeah I was talking to my older sis lives in Gainesville and asked her if she remembered those reports over the radio and she remembered. We stayed out at Dolan Hall KAFB and it was the info coming in on some channels the AF was using.Again these may of been in the Bay St. Louis area 25miles to the W of us.
