My arthritis hip pain is starting to act up. It started about 1:30 am eastern time. I guess that is when Irma started more of a turn toward Orlando. It's not very intense yet, but it comes and goes like the waves.

My internet went out at about 1 a.m. my time last night and so I decided to get some sleep. Have 17 pages to catch up on here.

I saved a screen shot of the satellite loop with Barbuda inside the eye of Irma. Direct hit. Just unimaginable.
[I see someone else has posted the full animation, so my picture would be a duplicate]

Next up in Irma's path: St. Barth, Saint Martin/Maarten, Anguilla, Virgin Gorda, Anegada...

That palm tree is really getting jerked around hard now. Palm trees are pretty tough vs. wind but I don't think that one's going to make it.

While I fell sleep, zoomed in radar loop of Irma as it made landfall over the Island of Barbuda. Now heading towards Anguilla and St Martin.

How weird. The webcam was black and white for hours, just changed to color.

Storm surge is overtopping the wall now, it'll be completely under water in a few minutes. They're really getting walloped now.

If I were you I'd get to an emergency shelter while (if) you still can. It looks horrific on St. Barts right now and you are next.

shelters are a last resort and your own place can be stronger than a shelter and making a dash for a shelter in the middle of a storm can be very dangerous..many structures including homes in the caribbean have withstood major hurricanes for years

I haven't had time to check models thread since I got up, but here's a tweet from Maue about the 00z run of the ECMWF
