Yeah, for sure. In this location the upstream area hasn't had the big rain (yet), the usual areas aren't flooding, and local TV wasn't showing any flooding problems in that area. So it's just odd to me. The problem of to much local knowledge! Hope everyone stays safe.

There's certainly the chance it's either incorrectly labeled or just bad info, or worse. Twitter and all, even sourced, should probably always be viewed with some skepticism.

Sure looks like it.

I'm still seeing a rough motion of 010...

It just amazes me how some houses seem to survive without even windows or shingles missing, yet there's total destruction of the house next door.

Even if they do, "after" won't be for several days yet. Harvey seems to be squatting in Texas like a gigantic toad. Any mobile tower they set up now would just get blown down again.

Several reasons: One house got a tornado, the other didn't; one house got hit by flying debris or a falling tree or power pole, the other didn't; one house was well built, and the other wasn't.

Joe more often than not is wrong on hurricane tracks... He seems to look for the most "captivating" ideas and convinces himself of such. I doubt his track will verify.

Also friction from the storm making landfall can encourage smaller vortices to form, increasing high winds for one area of homes but possibly not affecting an adjacent area.

There were houses that burned down on Bolivar Peninsula last night. I don't know how exactly it was tied to the storm though.

Unconfirmed--Rockport area eight fatalities according to http://www.kiiitv.com/news/live_breakin ... /280701833

Cell phone and internet services are down in the area, so information is slowly coming in.

So sad! May not have started due to Harvey but the winds certainly made it much worse. The only thing I have heard here on the island (I am in Galveston) is a McDonald's sign came crashing down - I am sure other things have happened.

Right now my street looks like a lower level version of the Venice canals but then again any tropical storm makes my street look like that. I have friends here that are looking to go out to eat and shop (!). That is sooooo Galveston. :D

Disclaimer: 50% of the time I have no clue of what I am talking about. Chances are I am taking a less than educated guess that sounds good because 10 years ago I stole Mike Watkins book 'The Hurricane and its Impact'. For official information please direct yourself to the NHC and their cadre of weather geniuses.

If anyone gets news on Port Aransas please share. Lots of rumors and none of them good but it's hard to trust social media.

132 mph. Certainly a strong cat 3 if not cat 4 storm. And could have had stronger winds elsewhere but no data to receive.

The KIII-TV team seems to be very tense with one another, and unsure of which information they should/shouldn't share.

Hopefully the 8 fatalities was false information, shared too early.
