That's mean-looking. Long vigil ahead for people in the path of that band.

Adds some support to the models that want to take it more eastward within my opinion. Chances of going back over the gulf have "increased".

Second tornado warning well away from Harvey. His reach is extending far and wide.

I'm in Los Angeles right now so unless the Big One hits right now I'm fine. My family and pets are back there though. They're who I'm worried about.

Like a beached fish, flopping around violently as it dies. Fins flapping around and lashing out.

From CNN:
I can't imagine that...everything I do in the job I love relies on being able to help people when they need it. I can't imagine having to stand by, listen, and do nothing. It chills me just to think about it. My thoughts and prayers are with the effected area, but especially with the men and women of local Fire, Rescue, EMS, Police, CAP, and CERT. The very thought of going through this is unimaginable.

“We took calls in the middle of the night that we weren't able to respond to, and that's a tough deal in this profession, to have hysterical people on the phone pleading for help and saying 'I'm sorry, but we can't -- the risk outweighs our expectation to do anything about it,’” Aransas County Sheriff Bill Mills told CNN.

Oh God...that's my worst nightmare. When you call for help, but nobody comes.

There must be a very hot and deep pool of water south of Houston.
The fast air moving across it is feeding this band.
It is the same pool that kept Harvey intensifying all the way to landfall.
I was monitoring CAPE values of it when Harvey just left the Yucatan.
They were always in the 3500 to 5000 range.

I can imagine...it is my worst nightmare to not be able to help. They teach us in training that there will be times when interior attacks are impossible, when entering the building is just too dangerous, but none of us like to think about it. I know it's the same for PD, and I can only imagine what that Sheriff is going through.

People were told ahead of time that there would be no emergency services responses.
What's amazing to me is that the 5 day cone is still just a big circle. They usually get stretched out quite long by later in storms.
