I live in Parish - About 45 miles SSW of Tampa.

To shutter or not to shutter is the question. What would you guys do? I live in a newer sturdy concrete block single story home.

Extrap pressure on the latest run into Irma was down at 911.3mbs, so still strengthening for sure at the moment. Certainly hints of another outer eyewall trying to form but Irma has rebuffed previous attempts so lets see how it progresses.

I think the stronger it is, the less noticeable the EWRC becomes... I'm not so sure though.

St.Maarten/Princess Juliana airport is completely destroyed, the terminal roof is scattered onto the runway with a good few ft of seawater surge flooding all of the airport complex. Runway has been ripped to shreds by the surge looking at the pictures coming out on twitter.

That is so sad to hear; Princess Juliana airport was always one of the most picturesque airports in the Caribbean. My thoughts are with everyone who had been, or will be in the path of Irma.

Oh, that is awful.
We went over there when on a cruise and it was so cool standing on the edge of the road off the beach withstanding the wind generated by the jets taking off.
I heard they stopped letting people do that when someone got seriously injured but it was a total rush holding on and watching.
Seeing the jets come in over you really low was also really cool.
Sad for the people of St. Maarten.....

The many construction cranes are only rated to 145mph winds. Adjacent residents in buildings and homes are being asked to evacuate if they collapse during the storm.

The only report I've been able to find is the one where the PM said (5 hours ago) that they came through remarkably well with no fatalities. Unless that is false. Where is the other report located?

Highest SFMR I've seen in a while at 154kt. Also lowest extrapolated pressures I think we've seen from Irma so far.
