CAPE is dropping but sadly instability isn't driving this disaster. It's the moisture and incredible moisture transport. Sadly I don't think that'll help much if any, but hopefully I'm wrong.

I'm glued to the weather channel right now with my prayers going to those in Houston. In most cases, worse case scenarios forecasts never happen. Obviously this is a worst case scenario happening. I can't even comprehend another 12 to 24 inches of rain on a city that is already 1/2 way underwater

Sensory overload but yet another unbelievable video of water pouring into the KHOU office.

I never fly my drone in the rain... as per the manufactures recommendations...... I have a DJI, which is not cheap... others may want to chance it, I would image some high dollar drones are wet rated... additionally my drone should not be flown in greater than 22 mph winds... which also might be why they are not up.... my opinion only..

:uarrow: This is so sad. There really are no words to describe this. :(

I should've known better, especially after the fake pics coming out of Katrina. Especially when the old lady was just sitting in the water knitting.

Careful with the twitter posts, confirm first. :) I try to stick to reputable news outlets or forecasters I follow for just this reason, there will be a lot of shocking fake photos going around.

I knew it was gonna be bad, but the images coming out of SE TX today are mind numbing. An absolute catastrophe.

Squalls just keep reforming and moving over Houston, incredible.
I think we Americans will be paying on their damage for years to come.

Wow, looking at Houston today is crazy. In looking at radar and models it looks as though perhaps rest of today rain be slightly less intense, albeit still heavy. At this point and for next few days it's really going to be nowcasting bands, but latest ecmwf still has 2-3 ft in store for them. Tomorrow evening and overnight according to that model looks like it could be another deluge period. Hopefully this will give some time for things to drain a bit and folks get to higher ground.

I know a lot of departments down in TX are equipped with water rescue equipment...I'll bet its being put to good use. Everyone's gonna be pulling extra shifts...wouldn't be surprised to see NY's TF-2 (tech rescue unit) activated in the coming days.
