Are you kidding me? They have been pretty accurate as far as forecasting the rainfall for 3-5 days now... People should have left.

And it IS associated with a hurricane!

I thought the same thing. I am also concerned with what is headed into that area.

We are ok so far in our subdivision in Atascocita.

And this game may have extra innings...yeah i'm concerned tonight will be just a repeat of last night, but with it on top of what we got, the flooding just gets out of control.

THE THREAT OF FLASH FLOODING IS INCREASING ACROSS SOUTHERN LA AS
SOILS SATURATE, WHILE SIGNIFICANT TO CATASTROPHIC FLASH FLOODING
CONTINUES ACROSS PORTIONS OF SOUTHEAST TX, INCLUDING THE HOUSTON
METROPOLITAN AREA. THE AVERAGE RAINFALL WITHIN THE HARRIS COUNTY
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT NETWORK HAS EXCEEDED THAT OF TROPICAL STORM
ALLISON (2001) IN ALMOST HALF OF THE TIME (2-3 VERSUS 5 DAYS).

HISTORIC FLOODING IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE IN THE HOUSTON
METROPOLITAN AREA THROUGH THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE.

The other thing about this, for those reading from other places, is the relentless string of tornado warnings starts to wear on you. One night of that is enough. But it just keeps going and going.

This could go from bad to catastrophic. With the models showing this to make it back to cat 1 before coming into Houston later this week. Houston can't made to surge right now or the increased rainfall with a mote intense storm. Then with the models showing this to come up to the north Texas area we can't handle the rain either. Our lakes are full. Our rivers are already running full. It won't take much rain before the BRA has to call for release of water on all lakes on the Brazos river chain. Guess where that water goes to? The Houston area

Sadly, based on my experiences with Hurricane Floyd and flooding, you're in the 2nd inning.

Models are trending toward some redevelopment, and then a landfall near Houston. God help that area of the country. Continuing to pray for you all.

Will be thinking of and praying for all of you in SE Texas tonight, for safety and grace to endure this LONG & horrific ordeal. Having been in a few hurricanes & severe tropical rain events, I know even one night of non-stop intense rain can seem like forever. I can't imagine what all y'all are facing, really, but all the Texans I know are REALLY strong folks with great senses of humor. Stay strong and thanks for keeping us far away posted with your news. We care!

Flood risk expanding into Louisiana big time today. 25"+ forecast in SW LA as well as additional in Houston. Tornado warnings flying left and right around Lafayette currently. Did not expect the weather to get this bad today. I'm just stunned.

On top of that, many of those dams have been in desperate need of repair. Some scored very badly (the article is from 2013 but only a few have just started to be addressed)

We talked about it on here before Harvey made landfall that everyone from Brownsville to Galveston should be prepared for the worst. But the others are right, as there is no way you can evacuate that many people. I mean if the residents of Corpus Christie did not evacuate and they were within a handful of miles away from the eye wall, how can we expect someone that is 5 hours away to evacuate?
