Getting hammered here (just west of Beaumont) with a heavy band. Streets are already flooded. Water will be in homes soon, if not already. The entrance to my sub-division is flooded and has been rising all day as is much of the highway if you left Pinewood.

They are going to release water from the Addicks and Barker? dam. The release from that will have water in the homes for up to 2 months.

Yes, they reported that earlier on a news conference. Not sure when they are going to do it, or if they already have, but they were letting local residents who would be affected, in order for them to evacuate.

According to the authority they are talking to on Kprc tonight they will start releasing tonight.

It will not reach Katy.

Do you have a safe way to get out if you need it?

If it keeps moving at current pace and direction it should be offshore around 1 AM or so.

Sorry to hear that. We are also getting a lot here in Lumberton. What are your thoughts for our area in the coming days? Stay safe!!

Praying for all in its path.

I live in a small town, and I'm sure it's different in a big city (although I HAVE lived in large
Cities), but let me say this:

I KNOW plenty of ways - using back roads, cutting through neighborhoods, etc. to get OUT of Dodge! I would venture to say there may have been ways, using shortcuts and such, may have been better ways to move through and out of town than being on the highways where everyone was trying to be.

Yeah, I thought I did too but so did 4000 other people in my subdivision that knew the same back roads.haha It took 1 1/2 hours to get 1/2 a mile down the street and 8 minutes to get back home My friends left and went to Dallas The 5 hour drive took them 18 hours. I'm warm, dry, in my soft jammies about to watch Game of Throne and not in a car in the rain. We are also two less people that first responders have to deal with. Again, I would really appreciate everyone applauding our first responders, OEM personnel, and volunteers .

Ah! I guess that's true, too! LOTS of others going the way you're going...I guess I figured NO ONE would get on "my" back roads....hahaha.

Anyway, I agree with you about the first responders, too. My hubby was one for years. I know how stressful it can be. I can't imagine the amount of work going in to what they are doing now. Hubbs and I are watching TWC non-stop tonight, and seeing all those rescues....over and over....

This whole scenario is just incomprehensible.

That line looks like a broken up feeder line of mini-supercells. Be careful SG. This looks bad particularly if it stays over the same general areas. Ouch. Maybe Vidor, Orange, Vinton as well. Y'all be careful at the border.

Be sure to give him my regards...what did he do, Fire, EMS, or PD? If you don't mind sharing, of course.

Extremely heavy rain rates headed back toward Houston per radar, roughly 3-5" per hour.

Addicks release will start at 2am. Kprc is supposed to be getting the maps shortly so they can post them to their website.

Sure enough. And look in relation to the rotation approaching. Live science.

Oh, gee. Do you have a tarp?

Yeah but I can't put it up now. Fortunately, I found the spot and was able to cut my sheet rock away and put a bucket under it. So at least for now, it's contained.
