After Joaquin, I have an even deeper respect for Coast Guard helo crews. Those guys were doing SAR on inland rivers with terrible visibility and crazy low ceilings... at night.

The center is just east and a tad north of Victoria. According to kprc says it is around 40 mp winds.

FWIW, cell service, internet etc. is GREATLY affected in flooded areas because of infrastructure damage, emergency traffic and concerned relatives. I didn't have good internet via my cell service for days. I would expect few posts from regular posters who are being affected.

Right. After Rita, I was sometimes able to get a text to go through, but couldn't make any calls and definitely couldn't get on the internet.

It's nothing compared to the totals to the southeast and southwest of me, but the Bryan/College Station area where I am has now accumulated about a foot of rainfall (event total of 11.38" at CLL through 8:53 CDT).

Tornado warning SW Houston. You could see that coming with those bands merging.

Brother in Law's parents have a home that shows up in that Barker reservoir map. Did they say which homes would take in water with the controlled release? Is it all the homes in the colored portion of the map? Thanks for any clarificiation.

I'm afraid that might not fully answer your question. I do believe they said the entire area. Several thousands homes will be impacted according to the press conference.
Good luck to them.

I've got the map and see their street. I'm just trying to find out if their home is one that will be affected by the controlled release. Apparently not all of the homes will be. Thanks.

I just amended my answer above. In the. Conference he said the homes in these areas and mentioned west in particular, but also several thousand homes would be effected. Sorry I don't have more.

What if those people have no power or phones...how will they know they need to evacuate? Very concerning and scary situation.

Yeah looks like Corpus radar is the best site to use at the moment for those trying to track the center
