Just wow at the radar, bands continuing to come into Houston. They just can't get a break. And that satellite view is just scary to me, with the center over water.

Could be reorganizational thing. Path of least resistance, and all that.
The surface low has been ahead of the radar.

Going to state the obvious. Situation is actually getting worse. Of course it will be continued difficult in terms of street flooding--neighborhoods etc..., but longer term, its the rivers and the reservoirs. The added rain is more likely to put those areas under the most extreme pressure.

Looks like our swirl did move offshore - heading south.

Yea looks like Harveys Center is definitely offshore now. Will be interesting to see how he responds. Hopefully any reorganization is minimal and that dry air disrupts him.

(CNN)As Harvey continues dumping rain on East Texas and the waters there continue to rise, people are starting to panic, rushing rescue boats and even shooting at them if they don't stop, said one volunteer rescuer.
Clyde Cain, of the Cajun Navy, a Louisiana-based rescue force that gained fame during Hurricane Katrina, said in one instance, a boat broke down, and while the crew sought shelter in a delivery truck, people tried to steal the inoperable boat.
"They're making it difficult for us to rescue them," he said. "You have people rushing the boat. Everyone wants to get in at the same time. They're panicking. Water is rising."
Because of the hostile responses, the Cajun Navy has been forced to halt some rescue attempts, Cain said.
"We have boats being shot at if we're not picking everybody up. We're having to pull out for a minute. We're dropping an air boat right now to go rescue a couple of our boats that broke, and they're kind of under attack," he said.

Pretty nuts. Conditions are so dire that it may become every man for themselves.

Checking in from a bit north and west of downtown Houston. We are okay but the rain is just relentless. I started yelling at the storm last night. "Go away! Just go away!" I didn't anticipate how crazy the relentless rain makes you.
We haven't flooded but last night when we had the three hour feeder band over us we had water backing up into our yard and rising up our steps. It was scary. Fortunately it quit raining before the flooding got really bad and we were thrilled when the ditches started draining pretty quickly. We spend about an hour outside clearing up debris, cleaning drainage lines and so forth. Every little bit helps.
We seemed to have had a bit of a break overnight but the rain has been relentless again today, although not quite as heavy as it has been. The new factor is the wind. That's not good because the saturated ground means trees can get blown over and take out power lines and go through roofs. Doesn't take nearly as much wind to push over a tree with the ground this saturated.
I'm so tired of this rain and flood, even though I know we are tremendously lucky compared to others.

Lets pray for the continued good will of the vast majority of people to win out. They're have been situations in the past after severe tropical cyclones (thinking of first 3 days or so after Andrew in S Fl) where law and order break down.

Unfortunately while yelling at people may get them
to leave, you can't scare away a storm. I really hate that sense of powerlessness...
That being said, it is still probably better to yell at it than to be like I was when I was a kid, where I offered to let tropical storms be my boyfriends.
(No. Love cannot change him.)

Yeah. But for the most part, I've read nothing but good things about regular citizens going around disaster affected areas, and assisting and rescuing others. Also read a story about a fellow who owns multiple furniture stores and is letting victims sleep on his mattresses + feeding them, for free.

Re: ATL: HARVEY - Tropical Storm - Discussion
looking at both the most recent radar loops and the vis sat loops is it possible that the pronounced cloud circulation is at the mid levels off the coast, and the actual LLC is detached from it and still closer to the coast... just doesn't look right to me...

Said he's becoming increasingly concerned with what he's seeing on radar with Harvey now right along the coast. Mentioned "bursting" with regards to t-storms. Mentioned areas from Houston down south. It looks bad yall. Radar showing constant training of moisture up from coast and around center. This does not look like its going to let up anytime soon. Harvey being along the coast has shifted everything again. It looked like today might be something of a break for Houston and SE Texas. But its ratcheting up now. Looks like a long 48 hours ahead.
Yep that is what our local radar is showing and what me and other seasoned observers are seeing. The rain is non-stop and mostly moderate to heavy now. Winds, even 50 miles from the coast are gusting to TS force with sustained in the 20s-30s during heavier squalls. Just announced massive evacuations west of Addicks and Barker Dams in West Houston.
Our airports are closed till Thursday except for emergency traffic. I could go on and on.
My family is safe so far.
Glad you all are safe. Good to see you check in.

Looking at the Slider you can definitely see where the LLC is

Looks like there might be some shear though

Yeah, there was no way to keep up, not being from there. Continued prayers for all.

These prolonged disasters bring out the very best and worst in people. Just this morning several people here woke up to find their sandbags had been stolen. Who would have ever thought that this would be a hot comodity! What's worse is that the sandbags are free to the public. They even have people and prisoners filling them and loading them into your vehicle for you.
