Thanks for that report on LaGrange. That's pretty far west but bad off. I hope that's isolated to close to the river. Also glad Conroe dam was just a rumor. North side has been quiet, but I saw the deep water rescues in Spring today. I don't think anyone has reported back from areas farther NE up toward Jasper. I hope y'all are okay up there.

I'm not sure about that fox 8 live highres model. I don't see it though some models yesterday showed us getting 10-12". We will flood here too if that's a recent run and verifies.

Also not sure i agree it's subtropical. You could tell last night that the convection would be weighted north but I think it's somewhat decoupled and also being influenced by several different factors from the dry air to the frontal boundary to its east to high pressure to the north. It's hybrid-hybrid if anything.

As for the NAM being bad for tropical systems, no. It's bad in the tropics. However in this one case, even when it was only around 20N, it often did better than any of the globals in its depiction of what was coming next. Not just once or twice either. So rule should be don't trust it South of 25N or ever trust its intensity level. But it's going to give you some decent information to work with sometimes.

Houston on-shore flow looks bad tonight. There was plenty of talk of doubling through Saturday's totals, so we shouldn't be surprised. I just hope it's isolated to smaller areas. SW LA and SC LA keep on the lookout for training and also tornadoes coming up again if the bands refire.

Please pray for EVERYONE IN HOUSTON or whatever you do. We have at least 2 different levees getting ready to breach and emergency evacuations are in progress. We have family that has already been affected and are safe, but our daughters neighborhood is filling up and we have had to give them instructions what to do to be safe. They have a second story to go to, so they should be safe, but this rain is relentless and it has no where to go. I have verified amounts over 3 feet from some friends and we are approaching 20" at out house but are not flooded so far. This is catastrophic for 10s of thousands if not 100s of thousands of people and we see no end in sight for at least 24 hours if not longer.

This is so sad. Praying for everyone in Houston. Please keep us posted.

Can someone tell me if Sage Bluff Ave, Richmond tx 77469 is safe or needs to evacuate in Fort Bend County??? ASAP please! I have a friend who is safe, but hearing about the levees makes me nervous for them!!! TY!

Your best bet is to contact local authorities, I don't even know where find that info.

Update...

Most of Pinewood is flooded and most have evacuated. Hundreds of homes.Catastrophic flooding. There's been many rescues by boat. Sandbags have been useless. Water coming up in my backyard. My street flooded. The entrance to Pinewood is flooded and Hwy 105 is flooded in both directions. It's been closed from Pinewood to Sour Lake (and beyond?) all day, but a few hours ago, I received pics of it flooded near Bevil Oaks (a few miles from here, if that) Have generator on now, but will eventually run out of gas. Have extra gas cans, but not enough for days. Getting very worried we will flood, but can't drive out. Would have to be by boat. Pine Island Bayou will crest at or above the record set in 1994. My house has never flooded and they built a new, huge drainage ditch that would supposedly help in situations like this, but Harvey just laughed at it. We lost electricity last night and the estimated time of restoration is August 31st and I doubt that will happen. I've been watching the water rise in my backyard since earlier this afternoon and now that it's dark, will be harder to do. I have a ways to go, but it's still rising, raining and more rain coming. I have been praying for my community, neighboring cities flooded, Houston, and all areas affected. We don't get the attention Houston gets as we're a MUCH smaller metropolis, but we'd appreciate some prayers. Very nervous.

People don't realize how big of a impact this storm has been to East Tx. Flooding everywhere. Boats going in to rescue people. We are not has bad has Houston but it is bad for our area. For some reason we get skipped over when it comes to reporting of what is going on here. We are small cities and towns with a lot of people trying to figure out what will happen. It is just sad. I saw multiple boats heading either to Houston or just locally to help rescue people. With more rain headed our way it will be an event we will never forget!!

I was just discussing this situation with hubby about people eventually running out of fuel. My SIL is on generator power in Kingwood, TX. It's sickening watching this unfold. Praying if everyone can maybe hang on another couple of days Harvey will get the heck outta dodge.

They told me yesterday that is incorrect, yesterday it was around 50" so I guess after today's rains it estimates that 62" you found.

I know its not completely accurate.. Doppler estimates rarely are.. but I guess the point was I have never seen a Doppler estimate that high.. not even close...

It's always like that though. Media gives the big stories so it's kind of up to y'all to keep us all posted when safe to do so. That was my point about it having been quiet on the far north side of town but Fox Channel 26 was showing deep water rescues up there this afternoon. Videos and photos also help get the story out. By the way, anybody has an updated rainfall total for the Houston area? I just checked the Houston NWS page but the rain totals have not been updated since yesterday afternoon.
