Respectfully disagree. There was a very lengthy (and well-cited) writeup last night on AmericanWx about it that settled this debate.

If Irma can skirt enough of Cuba is it likely to weaken enough to make a difference?

I have to disagree. Previously it would be easy to argue that there wasn’t an EWRC ongoing but with recon finding a double wind maxima earlier today and the microwave images indicating the inner eye is being choked off, it’s pretty clear one is ongoing now.

What track is worse for Miami-Dade?

I'm going to say the east track is a bit worse because it brings the core back out over water for a significant period of time before 2nd landfall. But the west track would cause more devastation in heavily-populated Orlando.

The trends today have not been good for Florida. It looks increasingly likely that a Category 5 hurricane will be making landfall in south Florida Sunday morning. This could be one of the strongest storms to ever make landfall in the U.S. I really hope folks are listening to local officials and finishing preparations soon.

Traffic here in the Panhandle has been steady with a few accidents .Mobile tunnel was at a standstill due to accident in the tunnel and on the bridge toward the tunnel.

For just a little bit of humor at this very scary time...

Just saw a Hurricane Irma blog entry which included some tips for millenials, like how to unbox and operate a battery-powered am-fm radio

http://hurricaneharbor.blogspot.com/201 ... ap-is.html

You cannot runaway from this storm unless you flew out yesterday. So deal with it calmly, logically and make sure you have a BATTERY OPERATED RADIO WITH THE PROPER BATTERIES cause I know several people who evacuated and obviously do NOT read my blog and did not take a battery radio with them. That's your LIFE LINE to the world when the power goes out. Weather Radio is GOOD... but the regular radio will tell you NEWS you need to have to stay informed on the storm when sitting in the dark listening to the wind howl and wondering what that was that just banged into your hurricane shutters. Hopefully a flying iguana not your car.....

I know being Millenials or aging baby boomers you need to watch a youtube video or a Buzz Feed article so I am including this one to show you how to use and unbox your battery operated radio.

It's possible although skirting Cuba and Hispaniola seems to have little effect (although it might get closer to Cuba). If it actually landfalls on Cuba or spends significant time making the turn there, then yes, I would expect some negative effects to set in.
