Pine Island Bayou is already projected to crest higher the the record of 1994. That alone affects thousands of people.

Contact 311 Now for Evacuation Assistance!
August 29, 2017 by Haley MorrowComments are off
As darkness approaches, the dangers for First Responders who are going into flood waters to rescue citizens, increases significantly. With this in mind, the City of Beaumont will suspend water evacuations at nightfall unless it is a life or death emergency. If you believe that you need to evacuate from your home because of rising flood waters, which are expected to continue, PLEASE Call 311 for assistance NOW!
There are still only voluntary evacuation orders in effect for residents who reside North of Broussard Road, and live on the following streets: Best Road, Hillcrest Drive, Crest Drive, Stonetown Road, Loop Road, Oak Ridge Street, Pine Ridge Street, the 8000 Block of Mitchell Road, Carpenter Road, Bayou Lane, and the 11600 Block of Jamestown Street.
We want to encourage everyone, even those not in the voluntary evacuation area, to continue monitoring their local news and make informed decisions about your families safety.

On Facebook, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office page had emergency numbers. They are also being told to call 911.

On a personal note, my son is a Beaumont fireman. He is about to finish his rookie year. Please continue to pray for our first responders.

I'm still ok. Port Arthur is being hit really bad. They're saying 15-20 ft of water coming at people's houses and they can't get to them. Several house and apartment fires and no one can get there.

The rain has nearly stopped here in old town Beaumont. I don't know how any other Beaumont areas are doing and I'm worried about my parents in Vidor

I'm in Port Arthur and I currently have water in my house. Its just slowly spreading in now so hopefully the rain will slack before long. Three houses caught fire about 3 three over from me and my whole neighborhood is under water.

Looks like Port Arthur is getting a little break from the heavy rain. Maybe that will help with the rescues. Not sure how long the break will last

Radar looks like it should slack off some soon. Not sure for how long though. Hang in there...
