I can see why its subtropical was down at a wedding in Ft. Myers. Wedding time was 6:15 and outdoors and is was chilly out. It was 67 degrees!! The end of May and 67 degrees!!. That is unheard of for this time of year.

Thanks, the gulf was fairly calm yesterday because of the offshore winds but today will be a different story, you bet we will not be getting in it. Waiting for some daylight so that I can walk out there to see the current conditions of it, swells should have started coming in by now.

Same thing here in Venice Beach last night when I went outside for a walk at the beach, it was 69 degrees and breezy making it very chilly but this morning the temps have gone up and so have the dewpoints.

Yep caneman. I had to put a sweater on last night. NDG hope we stay in the dry pocket but concerned that the big band coming up the east coast will be pulled over us as alberto moves out

06z GFS shows the dry air wrapping around the SE side of the storm over this area later today as Alberto tracks towards the Panhandle but it shows the moisture to return tomorrow night through the rest of the week. I'm hoping the see the sunset today 8-)

6Z GFS shifted back west a tad. I bet the 12Z Euro does too. Always seems to be a bit of diurnal shifting in the models

Yep. I talked about that very long band a few posts back. It all has to rotate through. That dry slot the Jax NWS mets talked about earlier may not materialize or if it does, it will be short-lived.

Back home to Indian Rocks Beach this morning where it is pouring out.
Hoping that dry slot pans out and maybe have a nice day tomorrow.

I'm glad this looks like it will stay at storm status. Being in the bullseye a day from landfall would be real bad if this was September. 8-)

So far here in Miami, there hasn’t been many heavy squalls. Mostly light rain punctuated by moderate bands. Most of the heavy stuff is east over towards the Bahamas SO FAR.

With Alberto tracking east, wondering if “the comma” will mostly miss SFL tonight and tomorrow. Either way, don’t think the 4-5 inches of rain will materialize here.

I believe the NNW heading has started, recon is approaching the LLC so lets see if it confirms it.

Jelff wrote:Here is a Google + GIS map for Alberto. Each time you open the map or turn on a GIS (Geographical Information System) overlay, you will see the most recent data that is hosted on federal GIS servers. You can turn on/off and restack over a dozen data layers.

When the map opens the dots you see are stream gages. This layer is ‘on top’ and therefore clickable. If you click a gage you will see a display with all the attribute data the GIS server has for the thing that you clicked. If you follow the link in that display, you will see NOAA’s graph for that gage with actual and forecast water levels. The color of the stream gage dot represents the seriousness of any current flooding.

For the map legend and more information to help you get the most benefit from the map, please click “Map tips” in the upper left corner.

The convection is being sheared NNW away from the partially exposed LLC which should be visible shortly.
Good news as the sheared presentation should limit intensification.

I agree, it looks like the storm tracking so far east has been a blessing in disguise for S FL. If the storm was 100 miles west Miami would be getting dumped on right now. TWC seems to think that blob of rain east of Miami is going to break off and not actually rotate around the storm, not sure I entirely am buying it. Think NE FL gets the rain S. Fla misses out on when the storm turns left.

Hopefully everything goes good with their flight and they can stay out there for a couple of passes through the center.

By looking at the recon's path so far I guess the NHC thought that the LLC was further south, extrap pressure of 999mb so far.
