You can literally see her say "get out of my face" to the dry air on the SW side...

This thing looks ragged. Keep it up Florence, fall apart.

Aye, it has. There still appears to be some dry air just outside the eyewall. It will be interesting to see whether convection begins to expand outwards, or if the hurricane remains "thin" in that spot.

Fascinating how resilient this system is... CDO doesn't seem fully recovered yet, but it seems to be doing its best to eradicate those dry air slots.

A What? Why?

Must be related to the folks in the sailboat.
Anyway, my friend in the Pamlico Sound area has completed their prep. Stuff is moved inland and they will leave in the morning. They are more than exhausted as I'm sure we can all relate too. It isn't just the physical preparedness but the mental stress and it can take a toll.
My best to all in the path.
Blessings.

RAGGED, because that small amount of dry air to the SW of the eye, and a mesovortex on the eyewall, she is already getting rid of the dry air and there will be plenty of the mesovortexes in the eye of a hurricane.

Is she using a back-hoe and digging a 10 foot deep 10 foot wide trench all the way around her house and using that dirt to build a levee around her house, if not a trench will do nothing with everything this storm will be doing.

So it looks like they are slowly moving the cone by moving the end points so people won't notice the major change as it is steadily moved south. I figured they would do a shift this time just wasn't expecting such a change at the end.

I think they are going to use the HWRF model for their 11pm track. It has a myrtle beach hit from the west and then west direction cutting across South Carolina.

I want to get some recon in this soon, pretty sure it's a bit stronger than 140 mph right now even with the dry air on the SW side.

SATCON is at 115-118 kt right now with Florence. It has done very well with the system so far, so it'll be interesting to see how close it is to the impending recon data.

We've dug one in our back yard and it works great. Won't do squat for surge but we're in Charlotte. I send hubby out every couple of hours to clear debris for deluges.
