I don't think that was that bold a statement, I think we'll see 130-35kt category 4. Still an absolute monster.

I didn't see if anyone posted the last P3 dropsonde from the SE quadrant, but it has some 162kt winds aloft and 138kt average for lowest 500m.

But the lightning is on the south and SW side. Interesting.

Aric D and Mike are at the Gulf Co Courthouse in Port St Joe. Looks like they will be there for the duration if the East Bay bridge closes. Pines are close to coming down and the two routes out of town may get blocked.

The Marina at Mexico Beach on 98 may undermine/ wash out as well near the pier. Going downhill at st. Joe

Whether it makes it to Cat 5 or high Cat 4, still devastating in any case.

Watching our local channel out of Pensacola. They are on the beach in Miramar beach in Bay county. Official is speaking as they have put a curfew in place. He said this and I quote " You may have the constitutional right to be an idiot and be out here filming the beach, but you do not have the constitutional right to put others in danger in order to save you" Love it. Get INSIDE ffs if you are crazy enough to stay in the area.

Innermost spiral band might be trying to become an outer eyewall but it won't have time to choke off the inner one and weaken it before landfall.

Latest dropsonde definitely supports at least 145mph, but an argument could be made for 150mph.

Those surface winds were actually in the NW eyewall.

Yep, looks like a solid 4. Couple hours left to go, she could still make a run at Cat 5.

edit: NE winds on that dropsonde, so NW eyewall.
