I thought recons wasn't going into her anymore? But that is just what I heard in the forum..

The eyewall is about 25 '30 miles offshore right now.

Report from Greenville: Storm has been pretty underwhelming in my area. We just went through a dry slot, rain is picking up again, but we've only had about 2 inches total. The pressure is 1010 millibars. Tar river has risen about 3 feet from earlier today, but still well under flood stage. From what I've seen on the news, surge is pretty bad south of us. I can't remember New Bern ever being flooded like it currently is.

You can count on recon with landfall. With the glacial pace of Florence, I don't envy the job of scheduling the flights.

Either Tropical Tidbits hasn't updated in several hours, or recon isn't currently in the storm. The Tropical Tidbits recon page hasn't had an update in 3 hours or so.

...HURRICANE FORCE WINDS AND LIFE-THREATENING STORM SURGE OCCURRING
IN EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA...

A NOAA observing site at Cape Lookout, North Carolina, recently
recorded a sustained wind of 67 mph (114 km/h) and a gust to 79 mph
(140 km/h). A Weatherflow station at Fort Macon, North Carolina,
recently reported a sustained wind of 70 mph (113 km/h) and a wind
gust of 92 mph (148 km/h).

A USGS gauge at New Bern, North Carolina, on the Neuse River is
currently recording 10.1 feet of inundation. Another USGS gauge in
Emerald Isle, North Carolina, recently recorded 5.3 feet of
inundation.

A NOAA buoy at Onslow Bay recently reported a minimum pressure of
956 mb (28.23 mb). A NOAA buoy at Frying Pan Shoals recently
reported a sustained wind of 62 mph (101 km/h) and a gust of 83 mph
(133 km/h).

Yeah, someth8ng seemed to happen earlier. I use tropical Atlantic to get the hdob obs to post. NHC for the vortex
